A green future requires not only good ideas, but also young people who are able to collaborate, solve problems and mobilise communities.

Many young people are sensitive to climate change, sustainability and the future of their own community. The question is often not whether they are interested in the green transition, but whether they receive enough practical support to turn an idea into a real initiative, project or business concept. The GO_GREEN – New learning path for promoting green entrepreneurship project connects green entrepreneurial thinking, social skills, digital learning, mentoring and hackathon-based problem solving.

Who is it useful for?

GO_GREEN is for those who not only want to shape the mindset of young people, but also involve them in solving real green problems.

  • For young people
    It helps young people to develop their own green ideas, solutions and business concepts.
  •
  • For youth workers and mentors
    It provides methodological tools for youth support, green hackathons and community problem-solving.
  •
  • For education and training stakeholders
    It offers a non-formal learning methodology that can complement education with practical, digital and teamwork-based elements.
  •
  • For local authorities and local communities
    Green ideas developed by young people can form the basis of local environmental or community initiatives.
  •
  • For youth organisations
    It provides an adaptable toolkit for developing green skills, entrepreneurial mindsets and community participation.
  •
  • For sustainability stakeholders
    It creates a connection opportunity with young people who are interested in, for example, waste management, sustainable packaging, nature-based solutions or the green economy.

Why is this needed?

Many young people want to work towards a more sustainable future, but they do not always get the skills, methods and supportive environment needed to turn an idea into a real solution.

Young people are increasingly sensitive to climate change and environmental issues, but motivation alone is not enough. For an idea to become a working initiative or a green business concept, practical skills, mentoring and shared learning situations are needed.
Traditional education often gives young people few opportunities to work on real-life problems in teams using creative methods. GO_GREEN therefore treats green business development as a skills development and community-building process. It builds on areas such as collaboration, critical thinking, an agile mindset, problem-solving, the use of digital tools and community leadership. For Central Transdanubia, this is important because the green transition, the involvement of young people and the development of future-oriented skills are also linked to the entrepreneurial and community development of the region.

How does the project help?

GO_GREEN does not treat green entrepreneurial learning as textbook knowledge, but as a co-creation process built on real problems.

The aim of GO_GREEN is to create a new learning model based on mentoring and collaboration for the development of green entrepreneurial skills. The name of the model is Pyramid of Learning, briefly PoL. It connects a digital platform, a hackathon, social skills development, community ambassador training and problem-solving based on real environmental issues. The main elements of the project:

  • identifying green enterprise skill gaps;
  • research conducted among young people;
  • development of a digital learning platform;
  • social skills development modules;
  • green business hackathons;
  • mentoring and community learning;
  • youth ambassador training.
The project is linked to the three priority themes of Erasmus+: entrepreneurship education, green skills, and new learning and teaching methods.

Practical application

The project becomes tangible when a young team searches for a working, demonstrable and scalable solution to an environmental problem in their own settlement.

Let's imagine a team of young people. They see that waste, a lack of green spaces, wasteful consumption, or the low involvement of young people in local environmental issues are problems in their settlement. They have an idea, but they do not know how it could become a functioning initiative, campaign, service, or green business concept. GO_GREEN helps with this: it provides a learning platform, mentoring, teamwork, a hackathon situation, and an opportunity to present. Thus, young people not only learn about sustainability, but also try out how an idea can be jointly shaped, tested, and presented to others.

Our role

The role of KDRIÜ is to ensure that green entrepreneurial learning does not remain an abstract educational methodology, but becomes a testable practice through research, digital tools and the involvement of young people in Hungary.

KDRIÜ is participating as a project partner in the GO_GREEN cooperation. It plays a key role in laying the foundations for the learning model, identifying skills gaps in green entrepreneurship, conducting questionnaire research among young people, and developing the digital platform. KDRIÜ is involved in the foundational phase of the Pyramid of Learning model, research tasks, the engagement of domestic youth, and the testing of learning processes. The project aligns well with KDRIÜ's previous experience in youth affairs, the green transition, social entrepreneurship, and innovative education. For KDRIÜ, the value of GO_GREEN lies in the fact that it combines youth skills development, a sustainability mindset, community problem-solving, and digital learning into a practical system.
