The partners of the CAMPUS project met in Tampere on 22–23 September 2026 to transform previously identified regional needs and good practices into concrete policy plans. The Central Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency Nonprofit Ltd. (KDRIÜ) presented its ideas for developing cybersecurity cooperation in Central Transdanubia.
From strategic goals to practical implementation
The basis of policymaking in Hungary is provided by the Smart Specialisation Strategy of the Central Transdanubian region, known as S3. The document for the 2023–2029 period already treats digital resilience and cybersecurity as a priority area.
The next task is to ensure that the cooperation system operating behind the strategic goals is also established.
The region's businesses, universities, clusters, public institutions and professional organisations possess significant expertise, but information and services are currently held by several different actors. KDRIU therefore plans to create a regional platform that can connect stakeholders and make cybersecurity knowledge, training, events and support opportunities more easily accessible.
The platform needs to be adapted to the region's needs.
One of the most important takeaways from the professional consultation in Tampere was that a practice that has proven successful abroad cannot be adopted without modification.
The experiences of Brittany's cybersecurity ecosystem, Tampere's security cluster and other partner regions offer valuable models. However, these must be adapted to the Central Transdanubian institutional environment, resources and business needs.
The planned platform can become a genuine policy outcome if it is clearly linked to the regional strategy, provides concrete services, involves key stakeholders, and has a long-term sustainable operating model.
Over the coming period, KDRIÜ will work together with its regional partners on the detailed development of the platform's target groups, services, governance, and results measurement system.
