In June, we met the partners of the GO_GREEN project in Madrid to jointly review the structure of the educational modules aimed at young people and youth workers. The aim of the project is to develop an informal learning programme based on an entrepreneurial mindset, the green transition and the social skills essential in today's labour market. Through the modules, young people can acquire new knowledge and experience in a playful, practical way, whilst strengthening their entrepreneurial confidence and sustainability mindset.
As part of the programme, a so-called hackathon methodology is also being developed. A hackathon is an intensive, 24 to 48-hour event where teams work together to find innovative solutions to specific social challenges – in this case, green, entrepreneurial ideas. Events with such a practical approach help creativity to flourish, strengthen teamwork, and provide an opportunity to immediately put the acquired knowledge into practice.
The completed educational modules and the hackathon methodology can also be integrated into the programmes of educational institutions, allowing young people to acquire entrepreneurial thinking, a sustainable outlook and key social skills in a gamified way – including effective communication, active listening, teamwork, empathy, conflict management, assertiveness, time management, cooperation and critical thinking.
The GO GREEN project offers young people an opportunity that not only provides new knowledge, but also self-belief and practical experience. This can help them enter the labour market more easily, or even take that first, bold step towards entrepreneurship.
