Transnational co-creation journey
Across nine regions, project partners held 12 regional workshops involving more than 140 participants from the creative industries, tourism, business, academia and the public sector. The workshops addressed a total of 39 real-world challenges – ranging from sustainable tourism and digital inclusion to local branding and community-led innovation.
Every workshop followed the joint methodology laid down in the project's „Building Bridges Toolbox”. Working in multidisciplinary teams, participants co-created DGC (digital-green-creative) solutions using practical tools for business modelling, storytelling, service design and stakeholder mapping. The most promising solutions were refined in transnational workshops focusing on business development, social impact and pitch training.
Regional highlights
- Slovenia (PTP & MAO): They created the New Cycling digital platform offering interactive, circular cycling routes in the North Primorska region to increase the length of stay and promote green mobility.
- Italy (Friuli Innovazione): They have developed the I bother you less called mobile application for cultural events that gamifies sustainable behaviour with reward systems and real-time environmental feedback.
- Hungary (CTRIA): They have created the Valleyland Connect digital identity platform for 26 rural settlements, combining cultural mapping with real-time visitor engagement tools.
- Austria (build! Kärnten): They helped start-ups such as – for example, the Kos-Pure Aqua – in effectively communicating their green and digital impact through creative storytelling frameworks.
- Italy (IUAV): They tested it as a pilot SwapUp concept – app-supported clothing swaps to promote circular fashion culture in tourist accommodations.
- Croatia (FEBT): They have launched the Hello cultural tourism app that provides GPS-based, crowdsourced experiences for exploring heritage and supporting slow tourism.
- Germany (SEZ): They planned the Castle Tour with Wine Tasting sustainable event concept that links wine culture, regional storytelling and community-driven tourism in the Ortenau region.
- Croatia (IRI Centar): They made a suggestion to Green Olympics Initiative – a gamified eco-challenge for city residents and tourists to compete in sustainability actions.
- Czech Republic (BizGarden): They created the SensiTIC multi-sensory Tourinform model that transforms traditional information points into locally-rooted, immersive experience hubs.
- Slovakia (TUKE): A concept has been developed for installing heritage-related beehives in open-air museums, combining biodiversity education with cultural storytelling.
The power of DGC co-innovation
The actions of Building Bridges have demonstrated that creative collaboration can transform digital and green challenges into tangible opportunities. Through intensive teamwork, practical learning and cross-sectoral dialogue, participants have been empowered to shape solutions that align with regional needs and European priorities.
Feedback from the workshops confirmed the participants' capacity building, the strengthening of local networks, and high satisfaction. Several pilots – including the Valleyland Connect, a New Cycling and the SwapUp – is already moving towards implementation and scaling up.
Foundation for future impacts
With 10 developed and tested DGC solutions, Capacity2Transform sets a strong precedent for how transnational cooperation and the creative ecosystem can fuel regional innovation. These results are now embedded in the project's broader strategic work – the development of entrepreneurial environments – and will contribute to future policy recommendations and support tools.
