The Central European region has taken another step towards the green and digital transition through the Capacity2Transform (C2T) project, which aims to renew the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) and sustainable tourism sectors. Launched within the framework of the Interreg Central Europe programme, the project involves 9 countries, including Hungary, and emphasises the importance of cooperation and innovation.
What is Capacity2Transform?
The main objective of the project is to help CCIs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in sustainable tourism to overcome the challenges of the digital and green transition. The economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has further highlighted that these industries urgently need solutions in terms of labour shortages and sustainability requirements.
First steps
During the first phase of the project, the most important task was the creation of a comprehensive capacity-building framework. This contains a series of strategic measures aimed at helping businesses adapt to green and digital initiatives. The goal is for the region's businesses to be better integrated into digital and sustainable development, thereby increasing their competitiveness.
Innovation and collaboration
An important result of the project is the development of the digital-green-creative (DGC) competence measurement toolkit, which provides an opportunity to develop strategies and action plans tailored to the region's unique needs. The aim of the project is to provide further training for more than 1,000 participants and to promote transnational cooperation among more than 200 SMEs.
Forward-looking platforms
As a long-term result of the project, two innovative platforms will be created: the MediaFactory and the KnowledgeFactory. The MediaFactory focuses on the creation and distribution of content covering the themes of the green and digital transition. Meanwhile, the KnowledgeFactory is intended to strengthen cooperation between business support organisations.
Why is all this important?
The C2T project can open a new era for Central European CCIs and sustainable tourism. The goal is to develop a more competitive, resilient and sustainable region capable of keeping pace with the digital and green transition.
