Awareness raising for the connection of green energy production and green transport in Hungary

One of STRIA's projects that they are proud of is PROMOTER, which is a continuation of the eBussed project supporting the European deployment of electric buses. Given that both are Interreg Europe projects, the Integrated Transport Development Operational Programme (ITDOP) / Operational Programme Plus (ITDOP Plus) Managing Authority is involved in both and supports us and the domestic applicants in developing new types of Hungarian mainstream projects in line with ITDOP Plus project proposals, and then providing financial support for the delivery of those.

In PROMOTER, they are examining the relationship between local green energy producing communities and local green transport with partners from Portugal, North Macedonia, Czech Republic, Romania, Spain, Latvia, Finland and Belgium, under Italian project leadership. This learning is served by the study visits of the project, and the Agency is the organizer of the next one in Budapest between 11-13 March 2025.

The current task – and this is what the title of the article is about – is to develop the domestic ITDOP Plus centred proposals of PROMOTER. On 5 February 2025 they had a consultation with the staff of the ITDOP Plus Managing Authority department led by Dr. András KISS. The consultation outlined promoting the connection between locally produced energy, energy communities and green transport with smaller Hungarian ITDOP Plus projects of an attitude-forming or awareness raising type. These model projects can later be integrated into larger transport development projects, enhancing their impact.

The PROMOTER project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and Hungary within the Interreg Europe Program.
