The closing event of the WIN project in Hungary was not merely a conference, but a multi-day professional and community programme that showcased the project's most important results through presentations, a panel discussion, workshops and a site visit. We have summarised the atmosphere and professional focuses of the event in three short videos.
On 6–7 May 2026, Komárom-Esztergom County hosted the Hungarian closing event of the WIN project. The main venue for the programme was the Oroszlány Mining Museum, where international partners, researchers, corporate representatives, institutional actors and local stakeholders met to jointly evaluate the results of the project and discuss the challenges influencing women's participation in the labour market.
The two-day programme was built around three important themes: professional presentations and panel discussions, joint workshops, and the exploration of local good practices. We have summarised these topics in three videos, each nearly a minute long.
Keynotes & Talks – professional perspectives on women's participation in the labour market
The first video showcases the conference presentations and panel discussions.
The professional programme examined the situation of women in the labour market of industrial and peripheral regions from multiple perspectives. The impact of economic and social structures, the role of the corporate environment and management, and the conditions that could help girls and women participate to a greater extent in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields were also discussed.
One of the key messages of the conference was that women's opportunities in the labour market are not determined solely by individual abilities or decisions. Locally available jobs, transport, work schedules, care responsibilities, public services and workplace culture all influence the possibilities for participation.

WIN Results Lab – from dialogue to practical steps
The second video summarises the most important moments of the conference workshops.
During the WIN Results Lab, participants worked together on three topics:
- women's needs and institutional barriers;
- social innovations for more inclusive labour markets;
- skills and institutional capacities supporting the participation of women.
The aim of the workshop was not simply to present the results, but to jointly consider how the project's findings could be turned into concrete actions.
During the discussions, particular attention was given to the problems that appear simultaneously in many regions: the fragmentation of support systems, short-term programmes, the lack of cooperation between local and national actors, and the limited availability of flexible employment and care options.
One of the strongest takeaways from the workshops was that numerous good practices are already available, but achieving their broader impact requires adaptation, longer-term support, and stronger institutional cooperation.

Study Visit – local good practices and mutual learning
The third video shows the learning process outside the conference room.
Participants in the programme got to know the economic, social and industrial characteristics of the region at locations in Oroszlány, Dorog and Tatabánya. The study visit provided an opportunity for partners to meet local actors directly, ask questions and examine through practical examples how companies, institutions and communities can support the labour market participation of women.
During the Dorog programme, participants were able to learn about local corporate best practices in the fields of supporting female employees, career development, mentoring, women's health and career orientation.
The greatest value of the site visits lay in the fact that behind the statistics and policy findings, local conditions, institutions and human experiences also became visible.

The legacy of the WIN project
The aim of the WIN project was not only to make problems visible, but also to develop and test practical solutions that can be applied in other industrial and peripheral regions too.
During the project, 26 social innovation ideas were developed, 13 of which were tested as pilots, i.e. as experimental interventions. In addition, local and regional action plans, policy recommendations, methodological tools and transferable good practices were also produced.
The shared message of the closing event in Hungary was clear: raising awareness is necessary, but not sufficient on its own. Lasting change can only be achieved if institutions, companies, educational actors, civil society organisations and local communities work in a coordinated way to create a more accessible, stable and inclusive labour market for women.
